Life doodles

This kitten is BANANAS in the morning, let me tell you.
And the other day I overdid it with the jogging and like....couldn't walk at all. So I just stayed inside and drew a picture of my plight.

Week off, whaaaaat?

So I had a crazy random week off! Much free time art was had. Walk with me:

I've got a friend up Seattle-way who just started a new job as a hiring manager and needed a few multi-tasking octopus designs for work. Did this bad-boy in Illustrator! Look at those beautiful, vectory curves.
And I finally finished a new underwater background for Formicide. It took a long time because I made it needlessly ornate. Honestly it was because the audiobook I was listening to at the time was really good...and I didn't want to stop listening to it. Boy is THAT a first world problem!
And I also made a lovely oyster prop!

Also I got a KITTEN three weeks ago. She's a delight, but also very crazy. And she is really into burying her poops, let me tell you.

And the rest is all concept art for the young adult book that I have finally begun to write and it is going badly because writing requires more patience than anybody has ever had in the history of time. But I'm going to do it anyways! That is how you learn, or so I have been told.

And also some pictures of men. Because I realized I draw men never.

Lately noodling

Been busy of late what with work and you know, getting a KITTEN. Drawings of which will surely be forthcoming. Y'know, once she stops being so very kitten-energy and starts being more cat-lazy and wanting to play aaaaall the time. It is the most adorable burden.
Anyways, here I was just trying to see what kind of a face I could draw without any specific reference. And it turned out....meh? I dunno, I ended up using my own face as reference because I'm a big old cheater but then I was trying to make the girl look hispanic but I'm not hispanic sooooo... I think it just ended up kind of weird lookin'? Not the worst thing ever though?

And this was just me doodling elf girls because sometimes I do that to blow off steam. Blame Lord of the Rings in my formative years. Click to enlarge for both!

Free Time Doodles

I haven't so much been having free time as...taking it. To the detriment of other things. Screw you, the gym!  Piss off, tidying up! I do what I want. So this is what I've been doodling in those ill-gotten hours.

These were very much inspired by the sweet style of mira ongchua who's absolutely da bes.  And this photo of the coolest lady ever.
And this was an oc just bouncing around in my head after playing some Ni No Kuni Wrath of the White Witch, the most unbearably cute game of all time. I loves me a familiar!

Antpocalypse 2014!

I've been working on this game Formicide with my buddies Matt and Michael and it's really coming along! Here's the banner and character art for all of the playable classes. The Formicide text logo is courtesy of my hella-talented little brother Taylor!  You can watch the game trailer and play the alpha demo here:  http://www.rockwallgames.com/?page_id=2
Happy Hunting.

Finally uploading a bunch of gestures from a while back. Bit of the old Avatar, a few kung-fu movies.

Space-capades

Oh my glob, it's been so long! I lately got an unexpected boat-load of free time so I've been working on this story idea I've been developing. Basically its about tween girls having adventures in space. So basically its all I ever wanted in a story growing up.
Click to embiggen! So this is the whole crew, left to right, Willoughby St.James (Will) - Pilot, Roxy Romero (Roxy)- Captain, Aditya Asan (Atya)- First Mate,  MacKenzie McKracken (Mac) - Engineer, Thalia - Navigator
Here I had Will smoking a cigarette originally because every time I want to draw a character as a badass I give them a cigarette. But I was like OH WAIT, you can't have tweens smoking cigarettes so I'll have her holding....a parakeet. GOOD SAVE.

 Atya's the brainy one

Mac is the techy one with a robot penguin! His name is Gerard.
And Thalia has a 6th sense for interstellar travel. Which somehow is associated with glowy crystals. I mean obviously.

So yeah, I've got a story outlined but I'm such a god-awful writer I don't know what to do with it.  And its not even that I'm bad at writing its just so boring and I would much rather be designing increasingly elaborate space-sneakers. Who wouldn't!

Smokes + Stripes

Been watching quite a bit of mid-century period drama lately. Too bad smoking is so bad for your stating alive, it looks pretty cool.  Just Say No, kids!

"Nerds"

Doodled this while waiting for feedback at work. Anyone else noticed how the "girl who is a nerd but is secretly cute in paint-splattered overalls and a ponytail"trope of the late 90's has been replaced by "girl who is a nerd but is secretly cute in oversized glasses and bangs".  You can't fool me, girl! You are cute under there, I can see it!

Other people's nostalgia

I might be getting on the Buffy the Vampire Slayer train a little late, I realize. Whatever, Netflix still wants me to watch it all. I can feel it!
Also, man, I miss late 90's early 2000's fashion. Bring back the platform sneaker!

The Princess and the Ogre

Just rustling up some old concept art I did a while back from a script I came up with in college. We had to come up with a TV show and write the first episode. And I really liked what I ended up with! Too bad I hate writing. Its just like talking. But much much slower. And more boring. And less interactive.
ANYWAY. So this really ugly princess is gets kidnapped and cast across the kingdom by her husband to be, in a bid to inherit the throne without having to marry said princess. And she spends the series fighting her way back to the throne through the kingdom's many dangers, with the help of her trusty ogre companion. I mean in retrospect she's basically Daenerys Targaryen but I didn't know that at the time.
And there is a cupcake boy for some reason.

Percy Jackson!

And the Sea of Monsters!
I am perfectly aware this book series is for tweens. And yeeeeeet....I have read them all. And am well into Heroes of Olympus.  Whatever! I'm an adult I do what I want.

Formicide News

What a delightful bouquet! As much as I'd like to say that I have been suddenly and inexplicably consumed by a botanical passion, these are actually the latest props for the game I'm working on: Formicide! Out now in alpha demo, if you're interested in playing a game that is not at ALL complete --

And this is the background for the latest level. Click in it! She is so big!

And an ancient aztec ant statue. Because why not.

Winter Vacay Doodles

Had some time over my Christmas vacation to actually draw! For fun! It was pretty much the best. Here are some of the highlights:
None of the modern action-adventure lady heroes are named Bev.  Which is, if you ask me, too bad.

Deer legs are super hard to draw.

My parents' cat has the biggest nose. My mom is embarrassed about it.

Outfit blatantly ripped off from the latest Vogue.  I loves me some luxe loungewear.
