Rachel K. Avatar

Yaaaay, it's my friend Rachel's birthday! She wanted a picture of her with Appa and Momo, and also she knits. Crochets? One of those things I can't do.
Anyways, happy birthday Rae Rae!
If you're into public school education, she keeps a blog about her adventures in student teaching here:

Bending Air Before It Was Cool

Oh dear, it seems I've gotten on board the hipster-versions-of-nerdy-things train! You can see examples of other people's far superior contributions to this phenomenon here:
and here:
Anyways, I thought Avatar: The Last Airbender needed this to happen.

Oh Sokka, you're my favorite all the time. Especially cuz you already have hipster hair <3

Roommate Post!

Miss Liana mentioned on facebook how much she likes seeing drawings of herself:
It is she! In her natural habitat, surrounded by some manner of arts and or/crafts. Also obeying the Law of Liana: NO PANTS ON IN THE HOUSE.
And just so he wouldn't feel left out:
My other roommate Chris! Who is really big into Merlin right now. I've been watching it too and I can't say as I blame him! Arthur why u so mean 2 Merlin he loves uuuuuuuuu >_<
And finally, the chronicling of an evening's epic merriment:

In case you're wondering, we were singing Seal's "Kiss By A Rose". Best song EVER.  Chris is the luckiest DD.

Hiatus Interuptus

I've been crazy busy lately, what with doing real work and going on trips and having actual things to do!  Fortunately I managed to squeeze in a little inconsequential doodle nonsense.  For you, dear reader, for you.

Fairy Blog-mother smiles upon us all!

I was drawing a heartwarming scene of maternal bliss and immediately thought better of it.
This is just what happens every morning when I wake up.
THIS is what happens when you fly Alaskan Airlines to Seattle next to a hot mom and her TWO HORRIBLE CHILDREN.  Keep in mind, for most of the flight they were screaming and kicking. When they FINALLY calmed down was when that damned double espresso kicked in >_<
And while I was in Seattle, my LA peeps went out to camp in the woods like a bunch of damn dirty hippies. Stoner Bear only wants to party, bra!
The End.

Peasant Folk

Audiobooking my way through World Without End (The nearly-as-quality sequel to Pillars of the Earth) and those peasants are so CUTE with their little families and farms and dying of consumption.
B'awwww <3

Power Chronicles

Hooray! Everything is no longer poop. Apologies made, bridges rebuilt, and now I've got a plane ticket to Seattle for next week.
AND a lovely gentleman commissioned me to draw an illustration for his book The Power Chronicles. I suspect that its about a boy with powers, and the chronicling thereof.  You can checkit here:

One of those days. One of those things.  Just give me something to put my snot into.
Which reminds me, I need a schedule a visit to Seattle. Its where my girls be at.

Best Double Mint Gum commerical ever???

Throwing together some more Sketch Art examples for the old portfolio. Since all the stuff I've done for actual clients is all flipping non-disclosable!
I don't think that The Devil's Double was the best movie of the summer or anything, but it was actually pretty fascinating. Some of the stuff Uday Hussein did in the movie seemed so far fetched that I went and looked up online what he's actually done in real life (well, according to Wikipedia).  But this guy was actually legitimately insane! He tortured olympic athletes, raped women he picked up off the street, murdered some folks. Killed his dad's buddy with an electric meat-carving knife at a party!  Also, he had a personal collection of lions and cheetahs....what.
Anyways Dominic Cooper did a pretty spectacular job as Latif and Uday.  Although I thought he looked a lot less like them, and a lot more like Freddy Mercury.  Now THAT's a biopic I would watch.  Make it happen, Hollywood!

New Doodles: Noodles, if you will

When I'm not drawing I moonlight as a transgender prostitute.  This is my bff, Bitsy.

And this horse is wicked suspicious.

Sketch Dump

Yo! I feel like I'm only posting finished stuff up in here, but I also doodle things like all the time. The Proof:

Some stuff I drew while leafing through the awesome Art of Tangled book.

Mmm, Sam Flynn from the new Tron. I like your lightsuit buns.

And some cute critters.  Y'know cuz I'm a girl and it's obligatory.

This Happened

My buddies Steve and James are fostering a sweet little pitbull named Max and he did this when they were meeting the dogs and it was PRETTY DARN CUTE.

So if anybody in the LA area wants a snuggly rescue pup named Max, he's looking for a permanent home ^_^

Made a T-shirt design for this crazy dude:

Because selling discount cars requires WHIMSY.

Inspector Reginald Muttonburns and Crimedog

I love old-timey crime solvin'! Before there was "DNA" and "forensic evidence" there was deductive reasoning and bowler caps.

Fancy Pants

Trying out new stuff with coloring. Based on a picture of Kate Moss in Vogue UK. Trying to work on drawing stuff without lines, but i feel like its always weaker without them. Lines are my crutch! I am the Tiny Tim of drawing.

Welcome to the Sexy Wallpaper Box

I really have no idea what this is. I saw a photo of a woman doing this neat contortiony pose and then decided to add some sweet wallpaper. What. I don't have to explain myself to you!

Wednesday, August 10, 2011

I'm not really used to working in this realistic-ish style but I thought I'd give it a shot. It came out....meeeeh I'm almost happy with it.
Based on an editorial in Vogue UK which was awesooooooome. I highly recommend taking a peek here:

Just this past week I moved all my earthly possessions across the city to a new apartment. I had a couple of big furniture-type things and thought SURELY driving a UHaul truck would be a cheap and safe method of transporting my crap across town. I mean, how hard could it be? Like driving a big car, surely. OH MY GOD. It was like driving a BOAT. I can't believe they just let people rent these things! It's a metric ton of steel, barrelling down the 405, being driven by some poor sucker who's never been in anything larger than a Prius...I'm suprised more people aren't killed in UHaul accidents every day!

Anyways, I got all my stuff there without incident, which was a minor miracle. Although I don't think those hedges will ever be the same...

Our Deal

A little fan art of the mega-sweet music video for "Our Deal" by Best Coast. Love stories are pretty gross, but I do loves me some tragic endings! SPOILER ALERT.

A young, foxy, Peter O'Toole. Who knew he used to be such a DISH!

Nicholas Hoult you ARE a beast! ;-)

Had to whip up a few examples of promotional art for the ol' jobbity job. This one was my fave. Used a couple of references I found hither and thither on the internet.
Ahhh, how exciting teenage sexual escapades must have been for SOME people. I, however, spent my formative years drawing Sailor Moons. Take THAT, adolescence!

Shameless Self Promotion

So apparently there's this website that does interviews? Of like, artsy folk? I don't really know who they are, or what they do, or why they thought I should be allowed to talk to people but they interviewed me so here it is:

Maybe you'll LEARN something. For instance that I am, in fact, a lady. Which has apparently not been clear to friends of friends who've visited my blog. I just dress/act/look a little ANDROGYNOUS okay? Sheesh.

The Late, Great Harold James Potter

THE LAST MOVIE, GUYS. I drew this as sort of a sending off, I suppose. Now I'm gonna have to find something NEW to immerse myself maybe real life?
For reals though, here's a conversation between me and my bestie: Sarah P. She's big into HP fandom so I blame this whole thing on her.

me: Snarry Twat'er
and the Order of the Penis
Name of your slash fic OPUS
you're welcome
Sarah: thing of it is
i dont even ship it till harry's like, 35
and all bitter
me: well that's...
Sarah: and snape's been like
me: healthy
me: if it's not statutory rape i'm not on board
Sarah: wellokay then you should read this fic i read last night
wherein snape ACTUALLY DOES get slowly turned into a vampire
and harry forces him to drink his fresh, nubile blood
during school hours

You're welcome, world, for THAT.

The Fam

This is inaccurate. We slouch more.

Warm ups

Hey, lets put some sketches up in this SketchBlog. Ten points to Gryffindor if you know where the references are from!

We has it

Who wants to hire two out-of-work, down on their luck, animator/artists?? C'moooooon, I know you need something animated!
Also, it's really hot in this house during the day -_-

Reach for the stars

This is our buddy James. He's pretty short, and consequently, much mocked. SORRY DUDE!

Finn the Human

I was born/raised/interned in the greater DC area, and then moved to LA last year for work. I gotta say, you west coast kids STILL seem like a bunch of hippie slackers to me! And there's a part of me that misses the good ol' uptight coast <3
Now pardon me while I mosey past our local dispensary to the beach.

The Girl Who Kicked

The Hornet's Nest? Or her brother in the face? A scene from the third book in the Blomquist/Salander chronicles. Lisbeth and her crazy-boots brother throw down in a warehouse. Good times!

"Look sharp, Strongbottom!"

Turns out, when I'm left to my own devices all day, I STILL only draw Harry Potter fan art! Here's a scene from Professor Slughorn's Christmas party, grabbing a firewhiskey from poor abused waiter Neville. I gotta say I never cared much for Slughorn in the books but Jim Broadbent really gave him some charm! That man is delightful.

Daenerys Targaryen

Some more Game of Thrones Fan Art! Daenerys Targaryen and her fella, Khal Drogo. Oh underage, arranged marriages. They're just so romantic! *sniff!*
But the more I read, the more I like her. I'm almost done with the second book and she's developing into her own lady. Plus she's got pet dragons! D'awww.

This happened

This actually happened to me not to long ago! What I want to know is what the hell was so important in that kitchen cabinet that my neighbor had to find it while naked. WHAT COULD IT POSSIBLY HAVE BEEN???
